David Lang - Apr. 3, 1935 - Oct. 6, 2007

David Lang, age 72, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Saturday, October 6, 2007, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake, Iowa.

David was born in Ayrshire, Iowa, on April 3, 1935, to Anthony and Irene (Kleigl) Lang. Dave lived with his family in the Laurens area where he attended Laurens school for 10 1/2 years. His family moved to Storm Lake in 1953 where Dave attended and graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic High School in 1954.

Dave was baptized at the Ayrshire Catholic Church as a child and later became a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake.

On June 27, 1955, Dave was united in marriage to Wilma McConkey at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. They were blessed with five children: William, Marla, Pamela, Beverly and Deborah.

From 1976-99, Dave owned his own plumbing business, Lang Plumbing, where he worked with his son. He was a member of the U.S. National Guard for three years as well as a member of the National Convention for Scooters. Additionally, Dave collected Cushman scooters, King Midget cars and trains. Dave will be remembered as a devoted father, grandfather and great grandfather.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Wilma; son, William “Willie” Lang, and his wife, Jan, of Storm Lake; daughters: Marla Lawson and her husband Jim of Overland Park, Kansas, Pamela Hesse and her husband Dave of Alta, Iowa, and Beverly Schlegel and her husband Paul of Gardner, Kansas; 13 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; three brothers: Bernard and Mary Lang of Omaha, Nebraska, Leonard and Diana Lang of Omaha, Nebraska, and Daniel Lang of California; one sister, Lynda Sands of Omaha, Nebraska; along with many extended family members and friends.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents; youngest daughter, Deborah (Lang) Mueggenberg; and sister, Shirley Descamp.

Funeral Service will be Tuesday, October 9, 2007, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake. Burial will follow at the St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery with Military Honors by the Storm Lake AMVETS Post # 66. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call after 4:00 pm on Monday, October 8, 2007, at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake where the family will be present from 6-8:00 pm. A vigil service will be at 7:00 pm with the rosary to follow, all at the funeral home.
