Illa R. Peterson - Feb. 26, 1922 - Jan. 11, 2006

Illa R. Peterson, age 82, formerly of Storm Lake, died on Wednesday, January 11, 2006, in Manly, Iowa, after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease.

She was born on Feb. 26th, 1922, in Cherokee to Clyde and Maude Patrick. She was an only child.

After living in Cherokee, the family moved to Cedar Rapids where they lived for many years. Illa graduated from high school and attended DIB in Des Moines. After graduation, she worked at Collins Radio. She made many life long friends there.

On Oct. 10th, 1946, she was united in marriage with Russell Peterson, Jr., in Cedar Rapids. They were married for 52 years. They had two children, Bill of Las Vegas, NV, and Marie (Mark) Clark of Mason City, IA, two grandsons, Adam Peterson and Kyle Peterson and one great grand daughter.

She enjoyed traveling, spending time with family and friends, and researching her ancestry. In the late 1960s, she was a columnist for the Pilot Tribune.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell, and her parents. She will always be missed.

A graveside service is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 16, 2006, at Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. There will be no visitation.
