Gary E. Isaacson - June 13, 1941 - Jan. 16, 2006

Gary E. Isaacson, age 64, of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, died Monday, January 16, 2006, at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Gary Edward Isaacson was born June 13, 1941, at Deaconess Hospital in Marshalltown, Iowa, to George Edward and Helen Catherine (Ralf) Isaacson. Gary began his education in Ardale, Iowa, before he moved with his family to Green Mountain, Iowa, in 1952. He graduated from Green Mountain High School in 1958.

Gary worked at Green Products before taking a position at Ritchie Manufacturing where he stayed for 25 years and worked himself up the ladder to become plant manager.

On September 21, 1968, Gary married Pamela K. Wisecarver at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple was blessed with a daughter, Kristine Kay, in 1978. Gary and Pam moved to Sioux Rapids a few years later.

Gary enjoyed drag racing in his younger years. In recent years, he was an avid golfer and served on the Little Sioux Golf and Country Club Board of Directors. Gary gave back to his community by serving as a city councilman, despite being ill for several years with diabetes and kidney disease.

Above all, Gary was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather who treasured the time he spent with his family. His caring presence will be missed daily.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 37 years, Pamela, of Sioux Rapids; daughter, Kris, and fiancé, Tim Payne, of Spencer, Iowa; one grandson, Cooper; mother Helen Isaacson of Marshalltown; sister Phyllis Fistler of Marshalltown; several cousins; other relatives and a host of friends.

Gary was preceded in death by his father, Ed Isaacson, in 1964; aunt and uncle, Kay and Paul Mason; and several other aunts and uncles.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 25, 2006, at the Sliefert Funeral Home Chapel in Sioux Rapids with Reverend Kris Frank officiating. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Sioux Rapids is in charge of the arrangements. No visitation is scheduled.
