Regina Young - Apr. 13, 1923 - Jan. 2, 2005

Regina Young, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died January 2, 2005, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Regina Miles was born April 13, 1923, to James and Ellen (Condon) Miles at Sioux City, Iowa. As a child, she lived with her parents at their home in Sioux City and then rural Storm Lake. She received her education at Sulphur Springs Consolidated grade and high schools and then attended Buena Vista College in Storm Lake.

On August 27, 1942, Regina was united in marriage to Delbert Young in Storm Lake. Their marriage was blessed with six sons: Steve, Mike, Mark, Dan, Pat and Chris, and one daughter, Maureen.

Regina was a homemaker who took pride in keeping a warm and comfortable home for her family, whom she treasured. She was a member of the Friendly Neighbors Club for many years,and enjoyed the company of a wide circle of friends. In her spare moments, Regina liked to read and work crossword puzzles. Her greatest delight was spending time with her grandchildren.

Left to cherish Regina’s memory are her sons: Steve and wife Nancy Young of Storm Lake, Mike Young of Sioux City, Iowa, Mark and wife Chris Young of Storm Lake, Iowa, Dan and wife Jaynee Young of Storm Lake, Pat Young of Storm Lake and Chris and wife Jeannie Young of Breda, Iowa; daughter Maureen and husband Bob Kelsey of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Brian and wife Cheryl Young, Jennifer and husband Mike Whelan, Melissa and husband Mike Pratt, Steve and wife Nith Young, Tim and wife Lyly Young, Jeremy Young and Susie Lindenbaum, Ryan Young, Jason and wife Amanda Young, Kellee and husband Jesse Barnett, Liz and husband Devin Kruse, Mike Kelsey, Nick Kelsey, Andy Young, Eric Young, Alex Young, Justin Young and Josh Young; 13 great-grandchildren: Michelle Young, Emily Young, Joe Whelan, Hanna Whelan, Bryant Jackson, Ben Pratt, Eric Pratt, Amanda Pratt, Leighton Young, Addie Young, Michael Young, Shawn Barnett, and Gabriel Barnett; brother James A. Miles of Los Angeles, California; and aunt Eleanor Miller of Storm Lake; as well as extended family members and a host of friends.

Regina was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert Young; her parents, James and Ellen Miles; brothers Gerald Miles and Frank Miles and her granddaughter, Allison Kelsey.

Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, January 6, 2005, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake with Father Bruce Lawler as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake on Wednesday, January 5, 2005, from 3-8:00 p.m. where a Legion of Mary Rosary Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. and a parish vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m.
