Dzom Khounlo - June 12, 1934 - Apr. 12, 2005

Dzom Khounlo, age 70, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2005, at the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake.

Dzom was born in Viet Nam on June 12, 1934, to Quang Van Leng and Quang Thi Nhau. She was a member of the Southeast Asian Community ThaiDam Church. She loved her family and treasured the time she spent with her children and grandchildren. Her family members each have special memories of Dzom; she was a loving, appreciative person and a great storyteller.

Left to cherish her memory are her children: Bao Khounlo, Boun (Mike) Khounlo, Kham Khounlo and Sene (Duke) Khounlo, all of Storm Lake; her brother Van Khounlo of Storm Lake; grandchildren: Barbie Synarong, Minna Khounlo and Toni Khounlo, all of Ankeny, Iowa, Skyler Khounlo of Storm Lake, Jimmy Khounlo of Des Moines, Iowa, Sommay Khounlo of Memphis, Tennessee, Brandi Khounlo of Virginia, Eric Khounlo of Spencer, Iowa, Shannon Comparan of Storm Lake and Chay Khounlo of Denison, Iowa; as well as many other relatives and a host of friends.

Dzom was preceded in death by her parents and mother-in-law, Note Lo.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16, 2005, at 2:00 p.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home chapel in Storm Lake with Reverend Barry Thongvanh officiating. Burial will be in the Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home on Thursday, April 14, 2005, from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
