Ila Gjevre - Nov. 3, 1922 - July 17, 2004

Ila “Betty” Gjevre, age 81, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Saturday, July 17, 2004, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Betty was born on November 3, 1922, to William and Agnes (Mader) Essex in Bay City, Michigan. She was baptized in Michigan as an infant. She married Jesse Gjevre in 1979.

Betty will be remembered as a loving wife, a devoted mother, a treasured grandmother, and a caring sister and aunt.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Robert O’Brien of Omaha, Nebraska; three grandchildren and a niece, Marilyn Williams of Michigan.

Preceding Betty in death were her parents; her husband, Jesse Gjevre; one son, Richard O’Brien; three brothers and two sisters.

Memorial Mass will be held Thursday, July 22, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake with Father Bruce Lawler officiating. There will be no visitation. Burial will be in Storm Lake Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home of Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
