Violet Seagren Groth, age 85, of Newell, Iowa, passed away on February 5, 2010, at the Newell Good Samaritan Center in Newell, Iowa.

Violet Helen Carlson was born on July 2, 1924, in Fonda, Iowa, to Clarence and Clara (Ohrtman) Carlson. Growing up, she was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith. Violet attended school at Fonda Community where she graduated in 1941.

On February 8, 1948, Violet was united in marriage to Roger Seagren. Together they were blessed with three children: Linda, Nancy and Craig.

Violet had a passion for baking pies and sugar cookies. She enjoyed collecting antique dishes and playing cards. She treasured flower gardening and loved her flowers.

Following Roger’s death, Violet later married Edward Groth on January 27, 2007.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Edward Groth of Newell, Iowa; her children: Linda (Don) Darling of Winterset, Iowa; Nancy (Steve) Corkrean of Winterset, Iowa; Craig (Renea) Seagren of Storm Lake, Iowa; her grandchildren: Matthew (Mindy) Darling of Waukee, Iowa; Jason (Nicole) Darling of Winterset, Iowa; Jackie (Brian) Mahler of Sac City, Iowa; Janelle (Chris) Steinkamp of Grimes, Iowa; Jeff Corkrean of Des Moines, Iowa; Tim Seagren and friend Jill Burger of West Des Moines, Iowa; her great grandchildren: Easton and Avary Darling; Cora and Caroline Mahler; Cole Darling; Ellie Steinkamp; her sister, Marian Johnsen of Quimby, Iowa; her step children: Dennis (Elaine) Groth of Newell, Iowa; Joanne (Dennis) Christian of Panora, Iowa; her step grandchildren: Gary (Wendy) Groth of Fonda, Iowa; Dr. Douglas (Dr. Eva) Groth of Carthage, Illinois; Dr. Nicolle (Eric) Rubendall of Naperville, Illinois; Mandy (Trevor) Shannon of Burnsville, Minnesota; Jill (Curtis) Cunningham of Runnells, Iowa; her step great grandchildren: Michael and Trevor Groth; Trystin, Jack and Max Cunningham; Morgan Groth and Taryn Groth; extended family and friends.

Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Seagren; her brother Percy Carlson; her infant son, Bruce Seagren.

Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. February 07, 2010, at United Church of Christ In Newell, Iowa
Interment: February 07, 2010 at Elfsborg Lutheran Cemetery in Pomeroy, Iowa
