Vira Reng - Nov. 23, 1923 - Nov. 28, 2004

Vira Reng, age 81, of Alta, Iowa, died Sunday, November 28, 2004, at her home in rural Alta.

Vira Verle Holmes was born November 23, 1923, in rural Alta, Iowa, to Harrison H. and Bessie Mae (Follett) Holmes. She was baptized and confirmed in the Presbyterian Church in Alta. She received her primary education in the Alta Schools, graduating from Alta High School. Vira went on to attend Buena Vista College in Storm Lake and then West Suburban Oak Park College in Chicago, Illinois.

On November 23, 1946, Vira was united in marriage to Dr. John Reng. Their marriage was blessed with a son, David, and a daughter, Corrine. John and Vira lived in Colorado and Wyoming until 1979 when they returned to Iowa and the Alta area.

Vira was a homemaker who treasured her family. She liked to garden, was an avid collector and was very proud of her Century Farm.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, David and wife Jodi Reng of Washington; daughter Corrine and husband Steve Sheaffer of McFadden, Wyoming; five grandchildren: Dr. Cory Sue Reng, Ben Reng, Kim Gentle, Rebecca Grommon and Ramona Sheaffer; several great-grandchildren; and extended family and friends.

Vira was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; and a sister, Vola.

Funeral Services for will be Saturday, December 4, 2004, at 10:30 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Homes are in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake on Friday, December 3, 2004, from 4-8:00 p.m. where the family will be present from 6-8:00 p.m.
