Maesel Sweet - Nov. 8, 1908 - Feb. 13, 2004

Maesel Sweet, age 95, of Storm Lake, Iowa, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2004, at the Boswell Memorial Hospital in Sun City, AZ.

Maesel Anderson Sweet, daughter of Ed and Laura Anderson, was born on November 8, 1908, in Pierre, SD. She attended grade school and graduated from the High View School in 1926. In high school she enjoyed playing basketball. After graduation, she drove a school bus with a team of horses for High View for a short time.

Maesel married Karl E. Sweet on September 16, 1931. They were blessed with a daughter, Darlene. Maesel and Karl lived on the home farm for most of their seventy-two years of marriage. She enjoyed baking rolls, cooking, canning fruits and vegetables and mowing their beautiful yard. She loved all her pets, especially her St. Bernard, Prince.

Maesel was a member of the Methodist Church in Truesdale and following the closing of the church, joined the Storm Lake United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday School teacher, taught Bible School, was involved with the ladies’ UMW of the church, was a member of the Birthday Club, Truesdale Farmers Club and was also on the funeral committee of the Storm Lake United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Karl; a daughter, Darlene and her husband Ron Cradit of Mound, MN; a sister, Ruth Johnson; seven nieces and three nephews; many extended family members, friends and a special friend, Lupe Hernandez, her personal nurse.

Preceding Maesel in death were her parents, Ed and Laura Anderson, her twin sister, Mavis Pederson, and a brother, Nathan Anderson.
