Shirley M. Woods - May 8, 1930 - Nov. 30, 2004

Shirley M. Woods, age 74, of Holstein, Iowa, formerly of Storm Lake died Tuesday, November 30, 2004, at the Holstein Good Samaritan Center in Holstein, Iowa.

Shirley Mae Boies was born May 8, 1930, to Samuel Peter and Grace A. (Smith) Boies. She lived as a child with her parents in Emmetsburg, Iowa.

On June 9, 1949, Shirley was united in marriage to LaMar R. Baker in Long Beach, California. She was a homemaker, who loved her family dearly. She resided in Minnesota, California, and Arizona before she returned to Iowa in September of 2000.

Shirley was a member of the Saint Joan of Arc Catholic Church in Phoenix, Arizona. She enjoyed traveling to historical sites and was a member of the 1000 Trails Travel Club. Her other enjoyments in life were playing cards and other games, sewing, collecting and refinishing antiques.

Left to cherish Shirley are her daughters: Pamella Jean Iosty and husband Dennis of Storm Lake, Christina Jo Lovaasen and husband Gary of Goodland, Minnesota, and Melinda Jane Barros of Phoenix, Arizona; grandchildren: Tamra Bennett, Brenda Miller, Clint and Alicia Lovaasen, Brent, Amber, Joel, Sheri and Barry Anderson and Marnie Greggs; great grandchildren: Keely Bennett, Robinson, Samuel and Caroline Miller, Kailie Anderson, Camren Fisher, Davis and Shelby Greggs; one brother, William Boies of Pueblo, Colorado; two sisters: Margaret Kilen and husband Kent of Milford, Iowa, and Sandra Nelson of Windom, Minnesota; as well as many extended family and friends.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter Mary Anne in 1952, a son Robert in 1992 and a sister Patricia Swartzbaugh.

Memorial Services will be Friday, December 3, 2004, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Storm Lake with Rev. Bruce Lawler officiating. Burial will be in the Good Shepherd Cemetery in Jackson, Minnesota. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.

Friends may call at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake on Thursday, December 2, 2004, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. where there will be a Legion of Mary Rosary at 3:30 p.m. and the family will be present from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
