John H. Robinson - Aug. 31, 1916 - Dec. 17, 2004

John H. Robinson, age 88, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Friday, December 17, 2004, at his home in Storm Lake, Iowa.

John Harvey Robinson was born August 31, 1916, the son of Robert and Hope (Buck) Robinson. As a child, he lived on a farm near Galva, Iowa, and attended Galva School.

On May 21, 1942, John joined the 168th Army Infantry, serving in the European-African-Middle East Theater. He was discharged with honors on November 9, 1945.

John married Glenice L. Pfrimmer on January 5, 1946. He farmed in Ida and Buena Vista counties, later working at HyGrade. The following 17 years, John worked for the Buena Vista County Road Department.

He was a past member of Kiwanis, the Moose Lodge and a lifetime VFW and American Legion member.

Besides his family, John loved fishing, camping, gardening and visiting friends. He had a real knack for finding a friend in everyone.

Preceding John in death were his parents; brother Fred; sister Mary and her husband Donald Wright.

Survivors include his loving wife of 58 years, Glenice; three children: son, James and his wife Linda of Alta, daughters, Malia and her husband Tom Myers of Tucson, Arizona, and Cathy of Cherokee; six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren: Jason and his wife Deanna Robinson and their sons Austin and Colyn, Jeffrey and his wife Michelle Robinson and son Ethan, Travis and Jessica Myers, John and Anita Bauer with children John, Patrick and Grace, Tiffany and Justin Ebert and their daughters Caitlyn and Carly; as well as many extended family and friends.

Memorial Services will be Monday, December 20, 2004, at 11:00 a.m. at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Schaller with Reverend Durwood Clauson officiating. Burial will be in the Schaller Cemetery with full military honors by the VFW Post #4704. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
