Lori Ann Waldner - Dec. 20, 1961 - Oct. 19, 2003
Lori Ann Waldner, age 41, died Sunday, October 19, 2003, at her home in Storm Lake.
Lori Ann Henrich was born December 20, 1961, at Storm Lake, Iowa, to Charles and Gwen (Meseck) Henrich. She was baptized in the United Methodist Church in Newell in 1962 and confirmed there in 1976. As a child, Lori lived with her parents in rural Newell, Iowa, spending her elementary and high school years in the Newell-Providence School system. While in school, Lori was active in sports and music. She had wonderful memories of those years. Lori graduated from Newell-Providence in 1980.
On April 15, 1981, Lori and Aaron J. Waldner were united in marriage at the United Methodist Church in Newell. Their union was blessed with a son, Jonathan. Lori and Aaron created one more wonderful memory when they renewed their wedding vows in a very special ceremony in 1996.
Lori was a loving wife and devoted mother who cherished her family and the time she spent with them. She was a special aunt to her nieces and nephews. Her love for children showed when she taught Sunday School.
Lori liked collecting Precious Moments figurines, pigs, Mickey Mouse and Pooh Bear items and enjoyed spending her free time shopping for these and, sometimes, shopping just for the sake of shopping.
Her family knew her to be a decisive individual but a very loving and caring person, with a wonderful dry sense of humor. She was the one who kept everyone in line, the kind of person who did all that her health would permit. Lori was loved by all her family and friends and will be missed every day.
Lori is survived by her husband, Aaron Waldner of Storm Lake; her son, Jonathan J. Waldner of Storm Lake; her mother Gwen Henrich of Storm Lake, her father Charles and stepmother Mary Lou Henrich of West Des Moines; her parents-in-law Jonathan and Dee Waldner of Spencer; brothers Steve and wife Linda Henrich of Arnolds Park and Stan and wife Joleen Henrich of Newell, sister LeAnn and husband Jeff Millar of Angels Camp, CA; brother-in-law Jeremy Waldner and friend Songa Peacock of Forest City, sister-in-law Wendy and husband Jeremiah Gibbons of St. Paul, MN; nieces Alyssa, Kelsey, Jami, Denise and Jaclyn, nephews Logan, Ben, Mark, Nick, Charky, Nathaniel and Brandon; one great-nephew Adan; and many other relatives and friends.
Preceding Lori in death were her grandparents, William, Sr. and Leola Henrich and Erwin and Viola Meseck.
Funeral services will be held 10:00 Thursday, October 23, at the United Methodist Church in Newell with Reverend Dr. Beverlee Bell and Reverend Scott Holmes officiating. Burial will be in the Newell Cemetery at Newell with the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake in charge of arrangements.
Friends may call at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake on Wednesday, October 22, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm, where the family will be present from 6:00 – 8:00.
