Frieda C. Meyer - Aug. 31, 1913 - Oct. 29, 2008

Frieda C. Meyer, age 95, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died on Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.

Frieda Charlotte Siebe, the daughter of Frederick and Anna (Scholle) Siebe, was born at Jansen, Nebraska, on August 31, 1913. Frieda baptized into the Lutheran faith on September 21, 1913, and she was confirmed on August 21, 1927. She lived her youth and was educated in the Jansen area, receiving her education in a country school.

On January 4, 1934, Frieda was united in marriage to Alvin William Meyer at the Peace Lutheran Church in Plymouth, Nebraska. This couple was blessed with two children: Ronovan and Betty. Alvin and Frieda were engaged in farming at Fairbury, Nebraska before moving to the Storm Lake area in 1944, where they continued with their farming and raising livestock. In 1971, they retired and moved into Storm Lake. Alvin died on December 21, 1998. Frieda later became a resident of the Methodist Manor Residential Care Facility. When Otsego Place was built, Frieda was one of the first residents of this independent living home and residing there enhanced the last years of her life. Frieda was an accomplished seamstress and did a great deal of sewing and also making quilts for her family, friends, and church. She also enjoyed the fellowship of her many friends at Otsego Place and had a good time playing games and cards with them. Frieda’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the joy of her life and she loved spending time with them and following their activities.

Frieda was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Storm Lake, the Altar Guild, the Ladies Aid, and had participated in a community sewing club.

Those who will love, honor, and cherish her memory include her family: Ronovan and Jane Meyer of Alta, Iowa; and Betty and Terry Penniman of Scottsdale, Arizona; her grandchildren: Cheryl Meyer and Derek Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Bruce and Jane Meyer of Stanton, Nebraska; Tyler and Angela Penniman of Denver, Colorado; Adelina Penniman of Scottsdale, Arizona; her great-grandchildren: Kaden and Brody Meyer, and Lily Penniman; her brother and sister-in-law, Donald and Carol Siebe of Fremont, Nebraska; two sisters: Wilma Eaton of Mankato, Kansas and Erna Zimmerman of Omaha, Nebraska; five sisters-in-law: Wilma Gnuse of Omaha, Nebraska; Elsie Ebke of DeWitt, Nebraska; Lavina Schisow of Fairbury, Nebraska; Emily Grummert of Harlan, Iowa; Leona Siebe of Jansen, Nebraska; and Linda Siebe of Colorado Springs, Colorado; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
