Patricia M. Loving - Mar. 4, 1939 - Apr. 9, 2009

Patricia M. Loving, age 70, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, died on Thursday, April 9, 2009, at the Regions Hospital in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Patricia, the daughter of J. Arthur and Lily (Carlson) Loving, was born on the family farm near Albert City, Iowa, on March 4, 1939. Pat was a graduate of Albert City High School. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Iowa State Teacher’s College (currently recognized as the University of Northern Iowa). In 1966, Pat received her Master of Arts degree in Library Science from the University of Minnesota. Her particular expertise was in writing bibliographies.

Pat was a librarian for two years at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. She was a junior high English teacher in the White Bear Lake School District. In 1970, she began her career as a librarian at Lakewood Community College in White Bear Lake. Lakewood is now known as Century College. She worked there for 26 years until her retirement in 1996.

Pat will be remembered by her family and many friends as an avid reader, for her beautiful needlework items, and for the bibliographies she enjoyed making for the Mystery Club. She was also active in several professional organizations and committees.

Pat’s memory is cherished by her family: her sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Ed Stout of Ames, Iowa; her brother and sister-in-law, Erland and Peggy Loving of New Smyrna Beach, Florida; her nieces: Ellen Loving, Rebecca Stout, Cynthia Lord and husband Shawn McGettigan, Gail and Robert Cuffe and son Eric; her nephews: John and Lorraine Loving and children John, Jamie, and Jasmine, and Scott and Betty Loving.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Memorials in Pat’s memory may be directed to the Albert City Library, Ramsey County (Minnesota) Public Library Foundation, or the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City.

Memorial services for Miss Loving will be held on Saturday, May 2, at 3:00 p.m. at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Albert City. Burial will be in Fairfield Township Cemetery in rural Albert City. The Sliefert Funeral Home in Albert City is in charge of the arrangements.

Visitation will be held at the church for one hour prior to the start of the memorial service.
