Audrey M. Miller, age 84, of Storm Lake, Iowa, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at Methodist Manor Care Center in Storm Lake.
Audrey May Nehring was born May 24, 1924 in Lincoln Township, Buena Vista County, Iowa, the daughter of William and Elda (Kruse) Nehring. She was baptized as an infant in the Evangelical and Reformed Church in Newell, Iowa, and later confirmed her faith as a youth at St. John’s Church at Newell. Audrey received her education in the Albert City School.
On April 9, 1949, Audrey was united in marriage to William V. Miller at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. The couple was blessed with three sons: Michael, Steven and David. Audrey and William raised their family on an acreage east of Storm Lake, and Audrey kept a warm and comfortable home there, one where friends and family were always welcome. She was a hard worker her entire life, doing whatever needed to be done without complaint.
Audrey was a member of the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. She enjoyed fishing, camping and picnics and especially liked to schedule family vacations and trips around destinations with water, such as Minnesota lakes. She also enjoyed visiting Yellowstone National Park.
Audrey’s first love was always her family and she treasured the time she spent with them. Her kind and caring ways will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons: Steve Miller of Denver, Colorado and David (Sydney) Miller of Storm Lake; her grandchildren: Tara Lynn Miller, Chad Miller and Sean Miller, all of the Denver, Colorado area; Cory Miller, Zachary Miller and Austin Miller, all of Storm Lake; daughter-in-law Susan Miller of Littleton, Colorado; extended family and many friends.
Audrey was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Miller; her son, Michael Miller on February 15, 2008; all her brothers: Arvie, Wendy, Russell, Lowell and Barton; and her sister, Jewell.
Services for Mrs. Miller will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, May 1, 2009 at the Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake. Burial will be in the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery in Storm Lake. The Fratzke & Jensen Funeral Home in Storm Lake is in charge of the arrangements.
Friends may call at the funeral home for one hour prior to the start of services on Friday.
