Vance Hadenfeldt, age 73, of Storm Lake, Iowa died December 14, 2009 at Mercy Medical Center in Sioux City, Iowa.

Vance W. Hadenfeldt was born on March 17, 1936 in Fonda, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Gwenna (Walker) Hadenfeldt. After Vance turned one, his family moved to Storm Lake, Iowa. In 1955, Vance graduated from Storm Lake High School.

Growing up, Vance lived across from the lake where Scout Park is now located. He was a lifeguard at Sunset Park in his teens and he always said he lived in the lake during the summer. He and his sister, Janice had a boat livery, renting out boats to fishermen.

On November 25, 1955, Vance was united in marriage to Adah Maitland at the United Methodist Church in Storm Lake. Together they were blessed with four children: Vicky, Barbara, Larry and Loren.

Vance worked at Hy-Grade packing plant for almost 20 years. In 1973, Vance and Adah bought the Roller Rink in Storm Lake which they have owned and operated for almost 36 years. Vance transported kids to their Fun Land in Storm Lake by bus from outlying towns. He helped his daughter with her storage business and was a handyman and could fix almost anything. Vance loved animals and enjoyed nature and the outdoors, especially hunting and trapping. Vance was a dedicated man to his family and their business. He will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Adah of 54 years; his children: Vicky (Steve) Knapp of Center Point, Iowa; Barbara Hadenfeldt of Storm Lake, Iowa; Larry Hadenfeldt of Center Point, Iowa; and Loren Hadenfelt of Peoria, Arizona; his grandchildren: Heather, Daphne, Drue, Austin and Hanah; his great grandchildren: Dustin, Taylor, Braydon and Dylan; his brother-in-law, Dennis Fredrickson of Spring Grove, Minnesota; a niece; nephew; cousins; extended family and many friends.

Vance was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Gwenna; and his sister, Janice.

Visitation: 1:00 p.m. December 19, 2009 at United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa
Funeral Service: 2:00 p.m. December 19, 1909 at United Methodist Church in Storm Lake, Iowa.
