Lois L. Lichtenberg, age 91, of Alta was called to her heavenly home on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2009 at the Sunset Knoll Care & Rehab Center of Aurelia. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 28, 2009 at the St. Paul Lutheran Church of Alta with Rev. Craig A.Cummins officiating. Burial will be at the Buena Vista Memorial Park Cemetery of Storm Lake. The Nicklas D. Jensen Funeral Home of Alta is in charge of arrangements.

Lois Louise (Sievert) Lichtenberg was born at her parent's home in Galva, on Sept. 5, 1918 to William and Louise (Rusch) Sievert. She was baptized and confirmed into the Christian faith at St. John Lutheran Church in Galva. Following her high school graduation from Galva Community School, she went on to receive her teacher's certification from Buena Vista College. She taught at country schools in the Hanover area.

On June 11th, 1939 she was united in marriage to Earl Lichtenberg and lived on and cared for their farm south of Alta for many years. They were blessed with seven children, Sharon, Larry, Connie, Laurel, Eugene, Eldon and Randy. Lois was an active and faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Lois also obtained her nurse aide certificate from Iowa Central Community College and went on to work for eighteen years at Buena Vista Hospital.

Lois treasured her family. She enjoyed cooking and caring for them. She especially loved family gatherings, playing games, and visiting with friends and family. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, reading and jigsaw puzzles. She will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Sharon (Ed) Roscoe of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Larry (Mary) Lichtenberg of Hobart, Okla., Connie Lietz of Alta, Laurel (Carolla) Lichtenberg of Republic, Wash., Eldon (Donna) Lichtenberg of Alta, Randy (Carol) Lichtenberg of Alta; her sister Wilma Starkey; sister-in-law Donnabelle Sievert; her grandchildren and great-granchildren; nieces; nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband; her son Eugene; son-in-law Howard Lietz; brother-in-law Walter Starkey; brother Clarence Sievert; sister and brother-in-law Lorna (Sievert) and Mel Pepper.
