February 27, 1936 - Storm Lake Pilot Tribune - Mrs Margaret Malbone, one of Storm Lake's best known residents, celebrated her 83rd birthday at the home of her daughter Mrs George D Daniels, 718 Seneca street, Wednesday Feb 19th. A group of relatives were entertained at the Daniels home in the afternoon, where the time was enjoyably spent with visiting. At the close of a lovely lunch was served.

Those present were: Mrs Malbone, Mrs W.F. Miller, Mrs Ralph Rhinehart, Mrs James Munsell, Mrs Grace Stanton, Mrs C.W. Stanton, Mrs Harold Stanton, and Mrs Daniels and daughters, Mrs Joe Kevane and Ruth Daniels.

Mrs Malbone, who came here in 1873 and was Storm Lake's most competent nurse, now lives with her daughter, Mrs. Daniels, in the building she once built as a hospital. For many years Mrs. Malbone devoted herself to caring for the sick, never accepting a cent for her services. In 1913 she constructed the Malbone hospital, which she successfully operated for several years. She is well known and beloved by all who know her.

Mrs Malbone and her husband, the late L.G. Malbone, were the parents of two daughters, Mrs Daniels and Miss Myrtle Malbone. The latter, who served as deputy treasurer for some time, died a number of years ago.
