Shirlene K. Robinson, 77, of Rowley, IA, passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025, at Lexington Estates in Independence, IA following a courageous battle with cancer.

Shirlene was born on August 12, 1948, in Bentonville, AR, the daughter of Rex and Shirley M. (Clark) Simpson. She grew up in Cedar Rapids, IA, and graduated from Regis High School in 1967. She went on to attend cosmetology school in Davenport, IA.

On January 29, 1969, Shirlene was united in marriage to Bert D. Robinson at St. Matthew Catholic Church in Cedar Rapids. Together they made their home in Rowley, where they raised their three children.

Shirlene was a devoted and supportive mother, deeply involved in her children’s lives. Becoming a grandmother brought her even more joy. She cherished hosting her family for the holidays and always looked forward to hearing about her grandchildren’s activities and accomplishments.

She is survived by her husband, Bert Robinson of Rowley, IA; her daughters, Renae (Cory) Kress and Tina (Dustin) Pecinovsky, both of Independence, IA; her daughter-in-law, Wendy Robinson of Independence, IA; and three grandchildren: Emily Robinson (Lance Wilden), Marissa Robinson, and Evan Kress.

She is also survived by her brothers: Bill Simpson of Lexington, KY; Jeff (Kim) Gonsales of Cedar, MN; Mike Gonsales of Highland Ranch, CO and Jim Gonsales of Brooklyn Park, MN; along with many nieces and nephews.

Shirlene was preceded in death by her father, Rex Simpson; her mother and stepfather, Shirley and Gene Gonsales; her beloved son, Duane Robinson; and her sister-in-law, Deb Simpson.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 19, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA
