Connie J. Rommann, 75, of Independence, IA, died on Friday, December 6, 2024, at ABCM Rehabilitation Center in Independence, IA.

Connie was born on February 15, 1949, in Independence, IA, the daughter of Richard and Doris N. (Jorgenson) Forney. In 1967, Connie graduated from Independence High School and went to work as a Medical Stenographer at the Mental Health Institute in Independence. She later took a position in the Human Resources Department, where she made many lifelong friends with long-time coworkers. She met Larry Romman at work. They developed a strong friendship and were later married on September 17, 2005.

Connie and Larry loved camping and owned a permanent camping spot at the Miners Creek Camp Ground in Guttenberg, IA. They enjoyed spending as much time as they could outside. Boating and campfires were among their favorite activities, but Connie loved talking with her neighbors. She never missed a campground cookout and was known to be able to talk your ear off.

She loved seeking out new ways to express her creativity and always had a new crafting project in the works.

She is survived by her brothers, Steve (Marie) Forney, Urbana, IA, and Mike (Annette Erickson) Forney, Independence, IA, and her nieces, Janelle Chartrand and Christina Rader.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Richard and Doris Forney, and her husband, Larry Rommann.

A Memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, December 12, 2024, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA.

Visitation will be held from noon until the service on Thursday.
