Donald H. Burger, 90 years old of Jesup, IA, died Friday, November 29, 2024, at Ravenwood Specialty Care in Waterloo, IA.

Donald was born May 27, 1934, in Black Hawk County, IA, the son of Louis William Burger and Victoria (Weber) Burger. He attended school in Jesup and graduated from Jesup High School with the class of 1953. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Germany for two years. On August 1, 1959, he was united in marriage to Louise Rose Crogveek at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Oelwein, IA. They made their home in Jesup and Donald worked at Rath Packing in Waterloo for 31 years until their closing. He also farmed south of Jesup for many years. He was a member of St. Athanasius Catholic Church in Jesup and active in Knights of Columbus both at the local and state levels. He had served in several offices over the years including Grand Knight, Financial Secretary, District Deputy, Faithful Navigator, and had been a delegate to the national convention. He was a 4th Degree Knight. Donald was also a member of Catholic Order of Foresters in Gilbertville, IA, and Pump-Scheer American Legion Post #342 in Jesup.

Donald is survived by his wife, Louise of Jesup; one daughter, Karen (Andrew) VanderStoep of Hollandale, MN; one son, Mark Burger of Jesup; one daughter in law, Mary Jean Burger of Jesup; one grandson, Josh Huisenga; two great grandchildren, Boyd and Jurnee; and one sister, Alice Meyer of Cedar Falls, IA. He was preceded in death by one son, Michael Burger; his parents; one brother, Kenneth Burger and one sister, Mary Lynch.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. – Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at St. Athanasius Catholic Church, Jesup, with burial in the church cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by Pump-Scheer American Legion Post 342 of Jesup.

Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church. Memorials will be directed to St. Athanasius Catholic School and to Camp Courageous of Iowa.

White Funeral Home, Jesup, IA, is in charge of the arrangements.
