Ronnie Lee Millard, 69, of Hazleton, Iowa died Saturday at Mercy One Hospital in Oelwein, Iowa.

Ronnie was born on July 2, 1954 in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of William K. Millard and Neva M. (Townsend) Thompson. He grew up and attended the Cedar Rapids Community Schools, and later went on to attend the Law enforcement program at Kirkwood Community College. For many years Ronnie worked at various jobs throughout the area. For the last twenty-five years Ronnie worked as a professional driver. He drove for many different Amish families and businesses in the Hazelton, IA area.

He enjoyed spending a lot of his time outdoors and reading. Over the years Ronnie learned all he could about geology and had a nice collection of different rocks from all over Iowa. He also loved to spend his time with his dogs fishing.

Ronnie loved every member of his large family. He enjoyed having a full house for family get-togethers and the holidays. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren; time often spent reading together or telling one of “Papas” jokes.

He is survived by his wife: Kathy Millard, Hazleton, IA, his eight children; Sherry Kern, Waterloo, IA, Shana (Martin Olayo) Millard, Cedar Falls, IA, Joshua Millard, Hazleton, IA, Ben (Andrea) Millard, Swisher, IA, Laura Millard, Hazleton, IA, Stacy Millard, Cedar Rapids, IA, Jessica (Keith) Traywick, West Salem, WI, and Mariah (Chris Wilkinson) Millard, Prairie Du Chein, WI; eighteen grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, one sister and brother-in-law; Kimberly (Florencio) Espirito, and three sisters-in-law; Carol Toms, Kelly Chettinger, Debbie Millard, and his mother-in-law, Shirley Chettinger.

Ronnie was preceded in death by his parents, William Millard and Neva Thompson, two sons; Ronnie Jr. and Dewey Millard, and five siblings; Neil Townsend, Randy Townsend, William Kenneth Millard Jr., John Millard, and Lazetta Millard.

The family would like to invite you to the Funeral Service, Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 10:30 AM at the Reiff Family Center in Independence, Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until the service on Wednesday. Burial to follow at Spring Grove Cemetery in Coggon, Iowa.
