Roger R. Lohse, 74, of Winthrop, IA, died on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence, IA.

Roger was born on October 12, 1949, in Sioux City, IA, the son of Charles C. and Marjorie M. (Ryherd) Lohse. Roger spent his early years living throughout Iowa, several years in Cedar Falls, and Evansdale, before the Lohse family made their home in Independence, IA, in the mid 1960’s. Roger graduated from Jefferson High School in Independence in 1967 and went on to attend Marshalltown Community College, and the University of Northern, IA. He returned to Independence and started working at the Greenly Lumber Yard, where he learned all he knew about construction. In the early 1990s, Roger started working for LJ Adams Enterprises, where he traveled throughout the United States working as a finish carpenter for many years.

When Roger retired he returned to the Independence area and worked for several years at Pop-a-top Redemption Center in Independence.

He is survived by his siblings, Richard Lohse, Rembrandt, IA, and Jean Simon, Independence, IA, his nieces and nephews: April Zeets, Cory Clinton, Doris Clinton, Brandy Spooner, many great nieces and nephews, his longtime friend, James Adams, and his favorite dog, Molly.

Roger is preceded in death by his father, Charles Lohse, his mother and stepfather, Marjorie and Fredrick Seufferlien, a niece, Amanda Clinton, and a nephew, Clinton Lohse

Services are pending with the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA.
