Galen Dale Bowden, 82, of Lamont, died Friday, May 24, 2024, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.

Galen Dale Bowden was born January 18, 1942, at People’s Hospital in Independence to Dale and Alma (Broers) Bowden. He attended Lamont High School. Galen married Patsy Evert on August 27, 1966, in Manchester. To this union they were blessed with four daughters and one son: Jean, Cynthia, Candi, Denise and Arthur.

Galen was a man who enjoyed the simple things in life, taking in all the experiences life presented him with. He loved going out to eat and eating all the sweets and desserts he was allowed. When he and his family would go to all the different restaurants they had to know multiple routes, as you were never allowed to take the same route to come home as you took going there. On these drives Galen enjoyed watching out the window and keeping up on the farmer’s progress. When Patsy would convince him to take her to the casino, he would go just so he could people watch in the lobby. Galen was best known for his great sense of humor and would pick on anyone that would let him.

Galen is survived by his three daughters: Jean Bowden of Lamont, Cynthia (Juan) Aponte of San Antonio, TX and Candi Bowden of Waterloo; One granddaughter: Lisa Marie Aponte of San Antonio, TX; Sister: Karen (Ron) Anderson of Stockbridge, GA; And many nieces and nephews

Galen is proceeded in death by his wife Patsy Bowden on May 15, 2016, his parents, daughter Denise, son Arthur and brother Harlen Bowden

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Thursday, May 30, 2024, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Dundee, with Pastor Chris Anderson officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at Grace United Methodist Church in Lamont and for one hour before the service.
Interment: Campton Cemetery in Lamont.
