Vince McLaury, 80, of Hazleton passed away Thursday February 16, 2023, at Mercy One Medical Center in Oelwein.

Vincent Burton McLaury was born in Oelwein on May 16, 1942, to parents Vincent Sr. and Leta (Penhollow) McLaury. He attended Oelwein schools. Vince then served his country honorably in the United States Coast Guard. On March 9, 1968, he was united in marriage with Paulette Reisner in West Union. Vince was employed with John Deere from 1966 until his retirement in 2003. He later served as Sexton of Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein for several years. Vince lived for hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing Blackjack at the casino.

Left to celebrate Vince’s life are his wife Paulette; his children: Scott McLaury of Hazleton, Susan McLaury of Oelwein, John McLaury of Prairie du Chien, WI, Steven (Shelly) McLaury of Jordan, MN and Teresa (Scott) Strong of Vinton; thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his son Ronnie McLaury; his granddaughter Zoe Goodenbour; his siblings: Gary and Ronnie McLaury; as well as his dogs Max and Buddy.

Visitation will be from 4:00-6:00 PM on Thursday March 2, 2023, at the Geilenfeld-Buehner Funeral Home in Oelwein with Military Honors beginning at 6:00 PM by the American Legion Post 9 of Oelwein. Memorial services will then follow.

Graveside services will be at 10:30 AM on Friday March 3, 2023, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Oelwein. A memorial fund has been established.
