Dan Ward, 62, of Monti, Iowa, died suddenly on Thursday evening, January 12, 2023, at the Regional Medical Center in Manchester.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Monti, Iowa with Rev. Dave Beckman officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. Monday and from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday at the Monti Community Center. (Address: 2854 Washington Avenue, Coggon, Iowa 52218.)

Parish Scripture Service: 8:00 P.M. Monday at the Monti Community Center.

Interment: St. Patrick Catholic Cemetery, Monti, Iowa.

Fawcett-Schmitz Funeral Home, Winthrop is assisting the family.

Daniel Gerard Ward was born on September 20, 1960, in Independence, Iowa, the son of James John & Dacia Marie (Koch) Ward. He was raised on the farm at Monti and graduated from East Buchanan High School in the class of 1979. Dan continued his education at Iowa State University where he received a degree in Ag Business, graduating in 1983. Dan worked at banks in Bloomington, Illinois and Cedar Rapids, Iowa before returning to Monti to operate the family farm in 1998. Dan was united in marriage to Diane Jean Elkin on August 1, 1998, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Dan enjoyed living in the Monti community, being able to farm with his son, Ryan, spending time with his family but especially playing with the grandchildren. Dan was currently employed for John Crane as a sales representative for the past 25 years.

Dan was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Winthrop, the Knights of Columbus and was a devoted member of the Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Monti Community Center.

Dan is survived by his Wife: Diane Ward of Monti; 3 Children: Ryan (Audrey) Bartachek of Monti, Ross (Kaitlin) Bartachek of North Liberty & Molly Ward of Monti; 3 Grandchildren: Evelyn, Jack & Rylee; 5 Siblings: John (Pam) Ward of Anamosa, Kim (Tony) Buda of Omaha, Nebraska, Mike Ward of Ryan, Mark (Jen) Ward of Prior Lake, Minnesota & Chris (Hazel) Ward of Maple Grove, Minnesota and 14 Nieces and Nephews.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents and a brother: Greg in 1975.
