Betty M. Bliss, 92, of Oelwein, Iowa, died Thursday, September 8, 2022, at MercyOne Oelwein Senior Care in Oelwein.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Monday, September 12, 2022, at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with Rev. Josh Schunk officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 6:00 P.M. Sunday, September 11, 2022, and for one hour before the service on Monday at the funeral home.

Interment: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing and masks are suggested at the visitation and service.

Betty Marie Pfister was born May 23, 1930, in Clermont, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Martha Marie (Scheel) Pfister. She graduated from Oelwein High School in 1947. On June 4, 1954, she was united in marriage to Robert Lee Bliss at Independence, Iowa. Betty was a homemaker and worked at JCPenney in Oelwein. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. Betty enjoyed sewing, quilting and crafts.

Betty is survived by her son: Richard (Connie) Bliss of Oelwein; 3 step grandchildren: Jess Trimble of Oelwein, Carrie (Mike) Hundley of Aurora and Chris (Halle) Canfield of Independence; 5 great grandchildren: Josh, Logan, Abbie, Hunter and Braxton; and a sister Florence Clark of Oelwein.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 3 brothers: Lawrence Pfister, Glen Pfister and Ernest Pfister, Jr.; and 3 sisters: Frieda Nelson, Clara Mae Poock and Augusta Earle.
