Tammy L. “Tami” Corbin, 50, of Independence, IA died on Monday, June 13, 2022, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, IA, following a battle with Leukemia.

Tami was born on March 21, 1972, in Manchester, IA the daughter of John and Linda (Opitz) Steffen. She was a 1990 graduate of the Independence High School and went on to study accounting at Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, IA. Tami started working at the Independence Community School District as a Behavioral Interventionist in 2010. She loved working with the children at the school and throughout the years felt privileged to see them grow into the people they would become.

On June 15, 2002, she married Kevin Corbin and they made their home together in Independence, IA.

Tami spent many hours advocating for cancer research. For several years she was involved with Relay For Life and helped run their events whenever she could.

For Tami her world outside of work revolved around her family. She loved spending time with her kids and going on motorcycle rides with Kevin throughout the Midwest. Her life was highlighted by the arrival of her granddaughter. She loved to talk about her any chance she got to; with anyone that would listen.

She is survived by her mother Linda Steffen, of Independence, her father and step-mother John and Priscilla Steffen, of Anamosa, IA her husband Kevin Corbin, Independence, IA, her children, Tyler (Katelynd) Beier, Mantorville, MN, Jordon (Kristie) Beier, Albia, IA, Kelsea Corbin, Cedar Falls, IA, and Kally Corbin, Independence, IA a granddaughter, Ellie Beier, two brothers, Tom (Tricia) Steffen, Plano, IA, and Tim (Dawn) Steffen, Marion, IA her grandmother Betty Opitz, Lamont, IA, and her mother and father-in-law, Stan and Barb (Marting) Corbin, Wadena, IA

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:30 PM on Saturday, June 18, 2022, at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA, with Pastor James Wolf officiating. Burial will be held at Wilson Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM until the service on Saturday.
