Nancy Egan, 63, of Oelwein, Iowa, died peacefully with her family on Friday morning, January 28, 2022, at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinic in Iowa City, Iowa.

Private Graveside Service at Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein at a later date.

Final Resting Place: Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, rural Oelwein, Iowa.

Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein, is assisting the family.

Memorials in memory of Nancy may be directed to the Buchanan County Animal Shelter.

Nancy Lee Damon was born November 14, 1958, in Oelwein, Iowa, the daughter Robert D. and Genevieve Phyllis (Tatro) Damon. She received her education and graduated from Oelwein Community High School. Nancy was united in marriage to James Patrick Egan on November 19, 1977, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Hazleton, Iowa. Nancy was a homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with and caring for her horses, chickens, peacock, cats and dogs. Nancy also enjoyed cooking, baking and her flowers. She was a collector of many things but especially rocks.

Nancy is survived by her Husband: James Egan of Oelwein; Mother: Genevieve Damon of Oelwein; 2 Brothers: Dennis (Ann) Welsh of Independence and Donald Welsh of Oelwein; 1 Niece; 2 Nephews; 3 Great Nephews and her Close Friend: Janet Ladeburg of Oelwein.

Nancy was preceded in death by her father; brother: Daniel Welsh; and father-in-law & mother-in-law: Richard “Dick” (Betty Ann) Egan.
