Frederick Walter Chapman was born February 2, 1946, in Oelwein, the son of Howard and Leona (Wendland) Chapman. While growing up, he was very active in church and school. He graduated from Oelwein High School in 1964 and then attended UNI, where he played baseball. On September 3, 1964, he was united in marriage to the love of his life Marsha Rae Gienapp at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Fred worked for the railroad in Oelwein and in 1970, he graduated from Upper Iowa University. After graduation and two years working at Green Giant, Fred and Marsha moved back to Oelwein. He went into the insurance business and in one year and eight months, became the #1 agent and was made sales manager of Northeast Iowa. Fred was an estate planner and the founder of Life of Iowa. He served as president of Northeast Iowa Association of Life Under Writers and was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Oelwein. He enjoyed duck and goose hunting, fishing, camping, getting together with family and attending his grandchildren’s activities. Fred and Marsha’s lives have revolved around their families’ lives.
