James "Jim" W. Newton Jr, 67, of Indian Springs, Nevada, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2021. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 10, at 2 p.m. at the Brandon Area Community Center, 802 Main Street, Brandon, with the Rev. Jamie Wolf officiating. Everyone is invited to join Jim's family at 1 p.m. for a meal at the community center prior to the service.

Jim was born in Independence, Iowa, the son of James W. and Verda Dolores Masters Newton (Novak). In 1972, he married Cathy Walton; they later divorced. To this union a son was born, Kelly James Newton.

He is survived by his son, Kelly (Lisa) Newton of Waverly, Iowa; his mother, Dolores Novak of Rowley, Iowa; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; four brothers, Michael (Pam) Newton, David Newton, Andrew (Tiffany) Newton, and Wayne (Susie) Novak; seven sisters, Lynn (Lyle) Ries, Annette (Ray) Sauer, Denise (Doug) Lehman, Dawn (Bill) Phillips, Cheryl (Rick) Wensel, Debora (George) Smith, and Carolyn (Doug) Wright; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, James W. Newton and Mary Ellen Newton; his stepfather, Duane R. Novak; his grandparents, Jesse M. and Effie M. Masters and Elmer and Helen "Nellie" Newton; and a niece, Monica Newton.
