David L. Kime, 71, of Hazelton, died Thursday, February 18, 2021, at Unity Point/Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Private family funeral services will be held at Becker-Milnes Funeral Home in Hawkeye. Burial with military rites will be at Hawkeye Cemetery at a later date. David Lee, son of Byron and Pearl (Richardson) Kime, was born July 21, 1949, in Fayette County, Iowa. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hawkeye. Dave received his early education in country schools in rural Hawkeye prior to West Union High School. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Conflict from 1967 to 1969, when he was honorably discharged. On October 4, 1969, he was united in marriage with Linda J. White at the Volga Lutheran Church. The couple would later divorce.

Dave was a farmer in Fayette County for many years and, in addition, worked in road construction, prior to driving semi-trucks for several years, retiring in 2020.

Dave and Julie Crouse were married in January 1999. The couple would later divorce.

Dave enjoyed gardening, collecting toy tractors, and Western movies.

Dave is survived by his six children, Daniel (Annette) Kime of Waucoma, Tracy (Ryan) Cummings of Oelwein, Michael (Andrea) Kime of Waucoma, Paul Kime of Tipton, Sara (David) Gregory of San Antonio, Texas, and Gavin (Haley Bertch) Kime of Hazelton; 12 grandchildren, Robin, Justin (Alexa Adolfino) Kime, and Raegan Kime, Olivia Cummings, Paige (Bonner) Mitchell, Scott (Jenny Hansen) Kime, Makaela Kime, Cole, Carsten, and Keira Kime, and Noah and Aniah Quinones; one great-grandchild, Remi Mitchell; a brother, Byron Jr (Catherine) Kime of Bettendorf; a sister, Mary (Walt) Wehlry of Las Vegas, Nevada; two sisters-in-law, Mary Kime of Sumner and Irma Kime of Fayette; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, William and Robert Kime; two nephews, Richard and Kraig Kime; and his former wives, Linda and Julie.
