M. Lucile (Smith) Loeb, 96, died on February 8, 2021, in Corpus Christi, Texas. A small family service will be held at a later date.

Memorials may be sent to the handicap fund of Zion Jubilee Lutheran Church, La Porte City.

Lucile was born to Lewis Herman Smith and Mary Alice (Gates) Smith on October 10, 1924, in Center Point. She married Wilbert Loeb on March 16, 1943, at Zion Jubilee Lutheran Church, La Porte City. Together they farmed and raised their four children.

Lucile worked for the Jesup Post Office for 10 years, and was well-known for her sewing.

Due to Wilbert's failing health, the couple moved to McAllen, Texas, where they managed a trailer park until his death in 1985. Lucile continued to work as a seamstress and at various bookkeeping jobs. Later, she moved back to Jesup to spend time with her Iowa family.

Due to her failing health, she moved to Corpus Christi, Texas, to live with her daughter Lois until her death.

Lucile will be remembered as an amazing seamstress and proud grandmother of eight grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. She was an active member of Zion Jubilee Lutheran Church, LaPorte City.

Lucile is survived by her two sons, Kenneth Loeb and Thomas (DeAnn) Loeb, all of Jesup; two daughters, Diana Harrigan and Lois Elderkin, both of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister, Grace Kubik of Center Point; and a sister-in-law, Betty Loeb of La Porte City.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brothers, Elbert Smith, S. Lacy Smith, and Lowell Smith; a sister, Hallie Dronbarger; two nephews, Steven Loeb and David Loeb; her in-laws, Elmer Loeb, Lavern and Bev Loeb, Gerald and Verda Loeb, and Ray Kubik; a son-in-law, Sam Harrigan; and a daughter in-law, Ann Marie (Lappe) Loeb.
