Play Ball!!! April 21, 2021 the barefoot boy from Brandon / OBI, was called up to play centerfield for Heaven’s Yankees.

Kevin Lytell Kiler was born May 13, 1957 to Lytell and Barbara (Bowers) Kiler. He grew up in Brandon Iowa where he mowed lawns, baled hay and could be found playing ball at the park with his brothers and the Dudley boys. Kevin spent his early years playing softball across Northeast Iowa where he was known for playing barefoot and stretching that single into a double or a triple, all with a wide grin on his face for his love of the game. He also loved golf and played regularly at Buffalo Creek in Winthrop, Three Elms in Independence and most recently at Cedars Edge in West Branch. He was known for his ability to par or even birdie a hole without ever playing in his own fairway. Glory Days

Kevin worked at Denton Castings with his good friend Mike Denton for over 40 years. He took pride in his work ethic and the quality of his work. Bossman always said he worked as hard as he played.

Kevin was preceded in death by his in-laws, Lyle and Lucille Wilson, his brother Lynial Kiler and his golf partner of over 30 years, Ed Fitzgerald.

He is survived by his young bride Kay and his precious children Nikki (Bryant) Robertson, West Branch, IA, and Andrew Kiler Snoqualmie, WA, and his granddaughters Evelyn and Elsie Robertson. He is also survived by his parents Barb and Lytell Kiler, his brothers Perry (Deb), Olathe, KS, Kale (Shelly), Shawnee, KS, Randy, La Porte City, IA, Karl (Angie), Independence, IA Lydell, Brandon, IA, his little sister Keeme Robinson, Brandon, IA, and many nieces and nephews.

May 1st is declared as remember Kevy day – all who want to remember him please watch a baseball game, wear a baseball cap, put bells on your shoes or wear a pink shoestring belt in his honor. A Visitation will be held from 2:30 PM until 5:30 PM on Saturday May 1, 2021 at the Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory in Independence, IA.
