Dock C. Richmond, 71, of Independence, IA died at his home on Thursday, April 8, 2021.
Dock was born on August 26, 1949 in Whitesburg, KY, the son of Chester A. and Marie (Campbell) Richmond. His father worked for the railroad and they moved throughout the United States before settling in Washington State. Dock attended the Federal Way High School in Federal Way, WA. In 1966 he enlisted into the United States Army and served in Germany for several years. Upon his return from the military Dock started working as a painter for the Tacoma Boat Company. He painted US Navy Ship, and shipping vessels for several years.
In 2000, Dock moved to Waterloo, IA and continued to work as a painter for the Pospisil Painting Inc. in Cedar Rapids. He finally made his home in Independence in 2011. On September 10, 2015 married Susie A. Guidry at Teachers Park in Independence.
He is survived by his wife, Susie Richmond, his three children; Rachel Lea “Twig” Richmond, Auburn WA, Brian Richmond, Kannewick WA, and Jennifer Henderson, Gretna, LA; nine grandchildren; Tamarantha, Megan, Heather, McKenzie, Albert, Selena, Charles, and Michael, five great grandchildren; Bently Cooper Philes, Raiden Darnell, Lucas Levine, a brother; Larry (Connie) Richmond, Fife, WA, many nieces and nephews, and his caregiver Candice Lewandowski.
Dock is preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Marie Richmond, two brothers Phil and Fred Richmond, and a sister Sonja Lee Green.
