Killed by his Team.
Independence Bulletin-Journal. Buchanan county has lost one of her best citizens under very distressing circumstances. Monday morning, M. M. Ferrin, of Byron township, was driving three horses to a plank float. The team became frightened and ran away. Mr. Ferrin, in trying to stop them, was struck in the abdomen. The maddened horses crashed into a hog pen where his shoulder was dislocated. The unfortunate man lingered until Tuesday night in the greatest agony, when death came as a relief to his sufferings.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born May 3, 1832 and died Oct. 26, 1897; He is buried in Fremont Township Cemetery.
