—H. A Fisher, one of the oldest and most substantial merchants in Independence, died of apoplexy last Thursday night. This is the sixth old settler who has been stricken down with hardly a moment’s warning in about two years.

Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he was born May 16, 1838 and died Oct. 29, 1897. He is buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
