Phyllis M. Fuller, 91 years old, of Independence, died on Saturday, September 5, 2020, at the Buchanan County Health Center in Independence.
She was born on December 14, 1928, in Clinton, Iowa, the daughter of Lenn S. and Margaret Inez (Ocker)Hayward. She graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1946.
On January 22, 1949, she and Clarence “Dick” Richard Fuller were married in Fairbank, Iowa. He preceded her in death in 1981. Mrs. Fuller had a clerical position with Lane Insurance in Independence for 30 years. She also sold produce at local markets. She always had a garden and canned her vegetables. She enjoyed baking and going to casinos. And, she was also a former 4-H leader and the 1914 Otterville Embroidery Club.
Mrs. Fuller is survived by 1 son, Dennis Fuller of Independence, 1 daughter, Lenna Sue (Mark) Thompson of Delhi, Iowa, 3 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and 1 brother, Marvin (Jo) Hayward of Independence.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and 2 brothers, Dale “Shorty” Hayward and James Hayward.
Friends may call for visitation from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, September 11, 2020, at the White Funeral Home in Independence. Her cremated remains will be buried in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence. White Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
