Jodeen K. Fitz, 78, of Independence, Iowa died Sunday morning, August 2, 2020 at her home.

Jodeen Kay Fitz was born February 14, 1942 the daughter of Frank and Anna Denise (Thompson) Fitz.
She received her education at the Weatherbee Country School near Oran and graduated from Maynard High School in Maynard. She continued her education at Pitze’s Beauty School and owned and operated Jodeen’s Hair Fashions in Fayette. She then drove a Head Start school bus for many years. Jodeen purchased the Malek Theater in Independence and operated it from 1992 to 1996. She also worked several other places. She lived in Jesup for several years and more recently lived in Independence.

Jodeen enjoyed music. She enjoyed listening and watching other play music and playing her bass guitar. Jodeen loved her doggie, Ebony, and being a grandma.

Jodeen is survived by her Doggie: Ebony; Son: Anthony (Patricia) Fitz of Independence; Daughter: Brenda Donnells of Jesup; 7 Grandchildren: Nathan Fitz, Jacob Hill, Krysta Hill, Alanna Hepker, Xavier Fitz, Alexis Fitz and Zane Fitz; 8 Great Grandchildren;3 brothers: Gene (Shirley) Fitz of Waterloo, Ronald (Janet) Fitz of Warren, Ohio,
Harold (Anna) Fitz of Bucyrus, Ohio,5 sisters: Patty Shinneman of Westgate,Barbara Welsh of Estherville,Shirley (Larry) Davis of Oelwein,
Marsha Schulz of Oelwein,Rhonda Smith (Chuck Jenks) of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Sister-In-Law: Betty Fitz of Dubuque and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 3 brother: Frank Fitz, Jr., John Fitz and Russell Fitz and 5 brothers-in-law: Dennis Wilkinson, Al Shinneman, Frank Cannon, Robert Smith and Roger Schulz.

Graveside Memorial Service: 11:00 A.M. Friday, August 7, 2020 at Greenwood Cemetery, rural Westgate, Iowa with Richard Lynn officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein.

Final Resting Place: Greenwood Cemetery, rural Westgate, Iowa.
