AURORA– Cody Kenneth Vande Voorde, 38, of Marion, IA, passed away on April 25, 2020 at his parents’ home in rural Aurora, IA.

Cody was born on April 8, 1982 in Independence, IA to Greg and Brenda (Wright) Vande Voorde. He attended East Buchanan High School and graduated in 2000. At the time of his death he was employed as an acquisition’s specialist for JCG Land Services, Inc. in Cedar Rapids, IA. In 2003 he had a son, Clayton Donald, with Melissa Briggman. On June 7, 2014 he was united in marriage to Amanda Hoeninghausen. They had one son, Warren Gregory, and later divorced. Cody was an ambitious, thrill seeking, jack-of-all-trades, urban cowboy. He loved the simpler things in life, like picking up hitchhikers and quoting old westerns. He loved his friends and making people smile. From bull riding to Tough Mudders, from mountain biking to noodling catfish, he and his brother, Spenser, kept each other competing at life. He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his sons.

He is survived by his sons, Clayton and Warren Vande Voorde. Amanda Vande Voorde, Cedar Rapids, IA, his parents Greg and Brenda, Aurora, IA, his sister, Caitlyn (Doug) Scherbring, Dundee, IA, his brother, Spenser (Whitney Honsbruch), Manchester, IA. His nieces Alexis McTaggart and Claire Scherbring and nephew, Tyson Scherbring. Many aunts, uncles, cousins, a special friend Angie Cook, his faithful dog, Yeti and countless friends.

A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Cody was an organ donor and will be cremated. The Reiff Family Center – Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
