Edward Alan Murray, 84, of Aurora, Iowa died at his rural farm home northeast of Aurora, Iowa, on February 20, 2020, the same farm he was born on July 27, 1935. He was the son of Paul and Elva Gibson Murray. He attended school in Aurora where he graduated from High School in 1952. He farmed with his parents for a number of years.

Ed was united in marriage to Diana Vargason on July 1, 1979 at the First Baptist Church in Aurora. They raised four children: Travis, Sheila, Emily, and Sara. Ed was first of all a farmer, but also worked as an East Buchanan Bus Driver and Rural Route Mail Carrier. He liked bowling, was a former member of the Aurora Community Club, and was an avid sports fan. He was a softball umpire, worked the chain gang for E.B. Football games, loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, Chicago Cubs, and especially followed East Buchanan athletic events, having been named the E.B. fan of the year in 1978-79.

Ed is survived by his wife Diana of Aurora; four children: Travis Faust of Cedar Rapids, Sheila Stanley of Dubuque, Emily Murray of Coralville, and Sara Murray of Aurora; eight grandchildren: Abigail Welsh, Hannah (Adam) Niles, Isaiah Stanley, Phillip Stanley, Rachel Stanley, Silas Stanley, Gabriela Argueta Murray, and Marisol Argueta Murray; four great grandchildren: Lane, Claire, Abel and Dean Welsh; two sisters: Sylvia (Duane) Boehmke of Denver, Iowa and Paulette (George) Follmer of Marion; many nieces and nephews , other relatives and friends.

Preceding him in death were his parents Paul and Elva Gibson Murray, one brother James Murray, and one sister Stella Murray.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 27, 2020 in the Stanley Union Church with Pastor Philip Rownd officiating. Music provided by Dave Lantz, Jon James, Betty Carter, and Krysta Sandstrom. Casket bearers will be his eight grandchildren. Friends may call from 4 PM until 7 PM on Wednesday, Feb. 26 and after 10 AM Thursday at the Stanley Union Church. Interment will be at a later date.

A Memorial Fund has been established for Cedar Valley Hospice and East Buchanan Athletic Boosters.
