Jimmie Dean Cusick,80, of Winthrop,Iowa, entered into his eternal rest on Thursday, November 14, 2019 at his home.

Jim Cusick was born December 22, 1938 in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Herbert and Pauline Postel Cusick. He grew up in the Jesup, Iowa, area where he attended school.

On June 22, 1956, Jim was united in marriage to Marlene Copeland at Independence, Iowa. To this union were born four children: Debra Sue, Jim, Jeff and Brad. The family lived in Independence for a number of years before moving to Winthrop in 1969 where he started his own business. In 1972, he built Jim’s Body Shop, where he worked until retirement. Marlene preceded him in death in 1997. He continued living next to the body shop until his death.

Jim loved classic cars, spending time at his trailer on the Mississippi River catching crappies, pool league, was a charter member on the North-South Football League and was a former Winthrop City council member.

Preceding him in death were his parents; his infant daughter, Debra Sue; his wife, Marlene; and his sister, Brenda.

Survivors include his three sons: Jim(Kim)Cusick of Quasqueton, IA; Jeff Cusick of Independence; and Brad(Lee Ann)Cusick of Winthrop; three grandchildren: Cassie(Dave Medhaug)Cusick, Jordan(Katelyn)Cusick, and Ross Cusick; one great grandson, August; one brother, Milt Cusick of Fort Myers, Fl; and many fishing and pool friends.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, November 18, 2019, in the Church of Christ United at Winthrop with Pastor Kevin Jennings officiating. Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at the Fawcett Funeral Home at Winthrop from 1:00 to 5:00 P.M. and one hour at the church before services. Interment will be in Fremont Township Cemetery, north of Winthrop.

Casket bearers will be: Jordan Cusick, Ross Cusick, Jon Kress, Dan Ryan, Mark Tarpy, and John Kurtz. Honorary bearers will be: Jim Bateman, Jim Brace, Ray Murphy, Ivan Cole, Jim Diers, Dave Lyons, Ron Burke, Dick Anderson, Gene Ehlers, Doug Eschen, and Gary Keating.

The family requests that memorials be given to Cedar Valley Hospice in remembrance of Jim.
