Merle R. "Butch" Chesmore, 76, of Quasqueton, passed away Thursday, February 14, 2019.

He born on May 24, 1942 to Roy and Mable(Hocken)Chesmore. He had six brothers and two sisters. He graduated from East Buchanan High School with the class of 1961. He served for three years, May 1961 to May 1964 in the Army.

On August 1, 1967 he married Carolyn J Kress.
For 30 years Butch worked for the Linn County Dairy Herd Improvement Association.

Butch was a devoted father and grandfather. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, and gardening.
Butch is survived by his wife Carolyn; his two sons: Michael(Nicole)Chesmore of Pleasant Hills, and Mathew(Carrie)Chesmore of Quasqueton; three grandchildren: Austin Chesmore, Brooke Chesmore, and Logan Saylor; one sister; and four brothers.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister; and two brothers.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, February 16 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at American Legion Post 434 in Quasqueton. Interment will be held at a later date.

The family wishes to thank Dr Jasper, Dr Zier, Lynne, Kortni, and the staff at the Buchanan County Health Center.

In lieu of flowers, the family wishes memorials be sent to Cedar Valley Hospice of Independence and Waterloo.
