Mary(Mayme)Laverne Moreau Hunt, 90, of Independence died Monday, December 10, 2018 at ABCM East in Independence, Iowa.

Mary was born on Dec. 26, 1927, in Faribault, MN, the daughter of Alford and Mary(Parker)Moreau. She graduated from Faribault High School and worked at Wilson and Co.

On August 28, 1948 she was united in marriage to Harlan Hunt in Faribault, MN. Through the years they lived in Ladysmith, WI, New Hampton, IA, Nashua, IA and Hampton, Iowa. Mayme enjoyed coffeeing with her many friends and attending her children’s many events. She also liked to cross-stitch and make crafts with her husband, and share meals with others. In 2012, Harlan and Mayme moved to Independence to be closer to their family. She enjoyed time spent with great-grandchildren, playing cards and games.

They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past year.

She is survived by her husband Harlan of Independence; three children: David(Lori)Hunt of Cedar Rapids, Bruce(Kim)Hunt of Pierre, SD, and Jan(Jon)Reed of Winthrop, daughter-in-law, Mary Molitor of Sioux Falls, eleven grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Alford Moreau, Jr., and a sister-in-law, RehlAnn Moreau.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 13, 2018 at the Cornerstone Foursquare Church in Independence with Pastor Marty Schminkey presiding. The family will greet friends from 10 AM until services Thursday at the Church. Bearers will be: Anthony Hunt, Andrew Hunt, Joel Reed, Junior Rodnez, Derek Aanrun, Thad Stoffernan, and Ben Kvigne. Honorary bearers: Byan Stamper, Bryce Stamper, Clement Moreau, and Laverne Tatge.
Burial will take place at a later date.
