Martin R. “Marty” Fitzpatrick, 75, of Independence, Iowa died on Wednesday evening, November 21, 2018 at the Lutheran Home in Strawberry Point.

There will be a private family service at a later date.

Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Martin Roy Fitzpatrick was born on October 16, 1943 in Manchester, Iowa, the son of Richard Michael & Myrtle Rose (Dougherty) Fitzpatrick. Marty was baptized at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Strawberry Point. He graduated from Strawberry Point High School in the class of 1962. Marty married Sharon Ann Larson on September 26, 1964 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. They were blessed with two children, Timothy and Holly. Marty and Sharon later divorced. Marty served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War from 1964 to 1968. He was a lifelong salesman. Marty worked for Commers Company in Minnesota for many years. He moved back to Iowa in 1993 and worked for Tyson’s in Waterloo for several years until he retired. Marty enjoyed working on cars.

Marty is survived by his Daughter: Holly Loebs of Bluffton, South Carolina;

2 Grandsons: Larson & Lucas;

2 Brothers: Robert (Mari Jane) Fitzpatrick of Oelwein &

Jerry (Freida) Fitzpatrick of Hazleton;

2 Sisters: Novella Wilson of Oelwein &

Mary (Ben) Salley of Columbia, South Carolina and many

Nieces & Nephews.
