Died Mrs. George Hawley. Mrs. Rilla Lake Hawley, wife of our esteemed townsman, George Hawley, a lady by name and by conduct, although her age was ripe yet it seems sad, sad, sad when such happy homes are broken. Mrs. Hawley was a life helpmate, was the mother of three children, all adult namely, Frank, Charles and Mrs. Kate Vanderhoof. The sons are unmarried therefore, the parental home was their only home. Mrs. Hawley led a good life and we feel that she is better off, but “what is home without a mother?” Ah, merely four square walls! Mrs. Hawley was a sister of B. Lake, that is to say, aunt of A. J. Lake, Mrs. Silter, etc., they too mourn this loss keenly as Auntie was much to them. Mrs. Hawley had been in poor health for years, suffered a stroke of paralysis last week, Tuesday, dying Thursday morning. The funeral was held Saturday, burial at Campton, near the old homestead. Rev. W. E. Ross officiating.
