Helen L. Breitsprecher, 99, of Hazleton, Iowa died on Sunday morning, May 13, 2018 at Oelwein Health Care Center in Oelwein with her family by her side.

Funeral Service: 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 18, 2018 at the First Presbyterian Church, Hazleton with Pastor Duane Olsen officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. on Thursday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein and for one hour before the service at the church on Friday.

Interment: Hazleton (Fontana) Cemetery, Hazleton, Iowa.

Memorial Fund: Hazleton Fire Department & EMT’s, U of I Children’s Hospital, Iowa City & Fontana Park.

Helen Louise Nichols was born October 14, 1918 in Bryantsburg, Iowa, the daughter of Jay Hayden & Blanche Mable (Farley) Nichols. She graduated from Hazleton High School and then worked at City Laundry in Oelwein. Helen was united in marriage to Vernon Charles Anderman in January 29, 1942 in Kahoka, Missouri. Four children were born to this union, Jane, Cal, Clyde & Sue. Vernon passed away on February 16, 1953. Helen was a homemaker and had been a clerk at the Hazleton Grocery Store, Hazleton Hardware Store and at the Coast to Coast Store in Oelwein. Helen met Harold Herbert Breitsprecher and they were united in marriage at the First Presbyterian Church in Hazleton on July 3, 1968. Harold passed away on May 20, 2011.

Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and the Presbyterian Women. She was formerly a member of the Eastern Star. Helen enjoyed her daily devotions, crocheting, ceramics, gardening, playing cards with her friends and family, occasional visits to the casino, participating in the Winnebago Wheels Motor Home Club and spending time with her family.

Cal “Bud” Anderman (Carol Zingg) of Oelwein,

Clyde “Butch” (Debbie) Anderman of Huntsville, Alabama &

Sue (Loren) Corcoran of Albia;

Harold’s Daughter: Mary Lou (Kurt) Cosselman of Oelwein;

18 Grandchildren;

31 Great Grandchildren;

8 Great Great Grandchildren and 4 on the way.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents, 2 husbands, son-in-law: Ben Lillibridge, 4 brothers: Hilbert Nichols, Kermit Nichols, Robert Nichols & Raymond Nichols and a sister: Esther Betts
