Norma F. Pleis, 89, of Gilbert, Arizona and formerly of Fairbank, Iowa, died on Sunday morning, January 14, 2018 at the House of Comfort in Gilbert, Arizona.

Memorial Service are pending at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, Oelwein.

Inurnment: Fairbank Cemetery, Fairbank, Iowa.

Norma Fern Hillman was born on November 4, 1928 at rural Hazleton, Iowa the daughter of Bruce Forest & Lois Mattie (McDowall) Hillman. She graduated from Maynard Consolidated School in 1946 and then attended Gates Business College in Waterloo for two years. Norma was united in marriage to Jacob Pleis on October 5, 1946 in Fairbank, Iowa. They lived in the Fairbank area for many years. Norma worked for the Hawkeye Valley Area Agency on Aging in Waterloo for 20 years as a field service coordinator for senior services. She later worked as a receptionist for Iowa Workforce Development in Oelwein for six years. Norma moved to Arizona in June of 2005. She was a member of Lord of the Harvest Lutheran Church in Fairbank.

Norma is survived by her Son: Duane (Darlene) Pleis of Fairbank;

2 Daughters: Linda (James) Tjelmeland of Oelwein &

Peggy (Jon) Cadenhead of Gilbert, Arizona;

5 Grandchildren;

8 Great Grandchildren;

2 Sisters: Lela Durdin of Huntsville, Texas &

Gail Jorden of Casa Grande, Arizona;

2 Brothers: Leslie (Alma) Hillman of Winterport, Maine & Clair (Mary) Hillman of Maynard and many
Nieces & Nephews.

Norma was preceded in death by her parents, husband: Jacob on September 5, 2002,
2 granddaughters: Crystal (Streittmatter) Dean and a granddaughter at birth, 3 brothers: Ralph Hillman and brothers in infancy:
Kenneth & Ramon & 2 Sisters: Arlene Larson and Carolyn Hoelscher.
