Frank E. Gallup, Sr., died on Saturday, May 13, 2017, at his home in rural Independence, Iowa.
He was born on June 13, 1935, in Buchanan County, near Littleton, Iowa, the son of Ross Lester and Pearl Elizabeth (Shaw) Gallup. He graduated from high school in Independence with the Class of 1953. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. On May 28, 1960, he and the former Clea Faye Reinsch were married in Waterloo, Iowa. They farmed in rural Independence. Mr. Gallup also sold Archer Oil products and Vigortone Feeds. He was a member of the Bechter-Boies V.F.W. Post #2440 in Independence. He was formerly a member of the R.E.C. Board of Directors. He enjoyed time spent fishing on the Mississippi River near Lansing, Iowa.
Mr. Gallup is survived by his wife of 56 years, Clea, 2 daughters, Michelle “Mickey” (Gene) Ficken of Independence and Terri (Randy) Mumm of Clear Lake, Iowa, 1 son, Junior (Terri) Gallup of Independence, 12 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and 2 sisters, Laura (Dwayne) Ott of Fairbank, Iowa, and Arlene Zumbach of Marion, Iowa.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 1 sister, Norma Kunkle.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at the White Funeral Home in Independence with Rev. Greg DeBoer officiating.
Burial will be in Littleton Cemetery in Littleton, Iowa.
Friends may call for visitation from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m.on Tuesday, May 16th, at the White Funeral Home in Independence where a Military Service begins at 7 p.m.
