The community was greatly shocked Monday morning when news spread about he sudden death of Frederic Vantassel, who had passed away the night previous at his home near Quasqueton, as the result of heart failure. Mr. Vantassel had been in his usual health and had attended church services during the evening. He was stricken suddenly after retiring for the night.

He was active in fraternal circles and always found satisfaction in doing a kindly act for some friend. His taking away will be felt by the entire community and brings great grief to the home.

The high esteem in which he was held was attested by the hundreds of friends who gathered to pay a last tribute at the services held Wednesday afternoon from the Methodist Episcopal church in Walker.
